Cheers All!

Another popular question I've heard is, what's up with the bizarre Utah drinking laws? Believe the hype- they were as wack as you think they were. However, most of these massively inconvenient laws have been scaled back in the past few years. This does not include the 3.2% maximum alcohol limit in the state, sadly. Often times, the cool locals drive up to Idaho or Wyoming to get beer with a normal level of alcohol. But, you can also get usual America-standard beer at state liquor stores.

Here's all the laws to date, have fun navigating the nonsense! Cheers!

Last Note About Lodging...

PLEASE MAKE YOUR RESERVATIONS BY JUNE 23rd! The block will not be held beyond that date, and there is a risk that the rooms will no longer be available. That weekend is a state holiday in Utah, so it may be difficult to find a room otherwise. So, please do not delay. If you call Snowbird and make a reservation through the phone, you only need to pay for one room, and the rest upon arrival. So make sure you get on that!

Other than that, those of you looking for fun in the city may find this useful! There is definitely a lot to do there, so get looking!
"36 Hours in Salt Lake City." - New York Times

THERE’S a new party in Salt Lake City. Utah liquor laws were normalized last year for the first time since 1935, allowing patrons simply to walk into a bar and order a drink, as if they were in any other city. Add to that a budding film scene (a spillover effect from the nearby Sundance Film Festival), a fresh crop of indie galleries and boutiques, and an open-door stance toward refugees and immigrants, which has made the city more cosmopolitan. The city even passed an anti-discrimination law last year that protects lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender residents — and with backing from the Mormon Church.

Lodging

OK, so the point of this blog is so that I can answer your questions as they arise, so please don't hesitate to ask me. One of the biggest ones I've heard is, "where should we be staying?" I'm glad you asked, because we have arranged for a block of rooms at Snowbird (link over there on the right). When you call in to make your reservations, just identify yourselves as being part of the 'Smith/Cizmadia Wedding' to receive the discounted rate and start using up the block. Of course, there's not just the hotel on site- there are plenty of summer activities, and definitely things to do at night. So there you have it! Give them a call, and they will set you up right away. Let me know if there are any problems!

UPDATE 6/9: Some of you note that there are multiple options for lodging. The block is reserved for the Cliff Lodge, so give them a ring and set that up!

UPDATE 6/9 part II: "If your guests prefer, they may also book their reservation online at www.snowbird.com. They will need to click on the "Buy Online" tab, located in the far right of the black bar menu, which will open a drop down menu where they will then need to click on 'Lodging'. From there your guests may enter their dates and they will need to enter the group code: 2BA45W. Also, when booking online, full payment is required at the time off booking whereas when calling into the Central Reservations Dept. your guests will only be required to pay a one night deposit at the time of booking and the remainder will be due on check In."

Welcome!

Greetings, everyone! I set this site up to be a central home for all information for our wedding. I hope it is useful, as we are both very excited to see everyone this summer and share in this momentous moment for us. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist, and I'll be right on it. Thanks much, and we'll see you in Salt Lake!
